LIVE HEALTHY THIS YEAR


There is no doubt about the fact that negative emotions harm the body.  Sorrows, sustained stress and fear can alter the biological system and over time adds up to various illness and diseases. While we are nourishing our body and participating in various physical activities, we should not ignore happiness to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Below are few points that will help you flourish and maintain your well being.

·        Face your Feelings: Life is not a bed of roses so one should not run away from the emotions. Negative emotions like sadness, anger and fear are the feelings which drag us down. Life will be much happier if we learn to control these feelings. So give yourself unconditional permission to feel, understand why it hurts and what you want to do about the situation. 
·        Live in the Present: Mental health largely depends upon what you are thinking. Crying about the past or having a fear of future is not going to be ever fruitful for a happy life. So the key is to live in the present and cherish it.
·        Stop blaming yourself: Avoid negative thoughts which tend to sink down our mood. Never let them make you feel as if they are true. Instead, challenge yourself to replace such thoughts with positive ones.
·        Meditate: The goal of meditation is to bring inner calm, a sense of tranquility and peace no matter what is going on around you.
·        Have a passion: Life will be happier if you keep doing new things in your life. Get out of your comfort zone and discover a passion, it can be anything painting, dancing, writing or anything that would make you happy.
·        Be Grateful: If you want to be happy in life look at people below you rather than people above you. Be grateful with what you have in your life.

If in the coming year you wish to live a happy and healthy life you have to know what makes you happy. Happiness is the key to all the problems in the world, and while you find what makes you happy kick out the following three things from your life to have a healthy life ahead:

1.      STRESS:
People these days are depending a lot on anti-stress medications and going to a psychiatrist is becoming very common. Taking help of medications to fight the stress is just making you more whammy because the more you depend on medicines, the less you learn the healthy ways of dealing with stress. Help yourself, find out the ways to get out of this dark room and fight back like a warrior. Once your decision is firm to live a stress-free life nothing can stop you to achieve it.
                                                                                               
2.      Avoid Unhealthy Food:
Nourish yourself with fresh and wholesome food that is light and easy to digest. Eradicate toxins and unhealthy foods, drink a lot of water and stay hydrated. If you feed your body with what it deserves it will automatically look the way it should look.

3.      Addiction:
Excess of everything is bad. Be very careful about various addictions which are stopping you from living a healthy life. Getting addicted to Smoking, drinking alcohol, drugs are poisons killing you slowly. Say NO to all those addictions that hamper your growth on a healthy lifestyle scale.

Beauty Salon: Relaxation Time or Stroke Time

Almost every woman loves a soothing massage and a relaxing time at the spa. Women enjoy being pampered and a whole treat to the self-thing. Imagine a relaxing massage, an invigorating facial, a luxurious bath, hairstyling, menis, pedis, and other luxury spa treatments.
  
Ahhhh all of this is a complete bliss in a life full of hustle bustle and stress. However to bring it to your knowledge a trip to a salon to get a wash, condition and blow dry for a whole new look can be fatal for your life.

A new survey has found that the position commonly used for shampooing at beauty salons, with the neck tipped far backwards over the edge of the sink, can diminish the blood supply to the brain. If the deprivation of an adequate blood supply to the brain lasts long enough, the result is permanent damage or a stroke. It is very important to be very comfortable while shampooing your hair over the basin; else it might result in a stroke commonly known as beauty parlor syndrome or beauty salon stroke.

Salon Stroke syndrome does exist. It comes as a result of the stress upon arteries in the neck that go to the brain. If these arteries are kinked or pinched clots can develop. It is an alarming situation, as many people are unaware that having their hair done is a risk of stroke. However, it is an extremely rare event. For the record, though tilting is not a good idea for anybody.

Salon Stroke syndrome usually occurs in older woman especially those with cervical arthritis. It has been recommended that older people with arthritis in their neck avoid having their hair washed at an angle in which they need to lean back more than 15 to 20 degrees. Instead, they can lean forward over the sink.
It has also been found that patients receiving anesthesia or undergoing prolonged dental work may also be vulnerable since they too have their necks arched back abnormally for prolonged periods.
                                                                           
Following are the signs and symptoms of BPS:

·       Severe Dizziness: It incalculates double vision, graying vision and blurred vision.
·       Imbalance: There may be weakness and buckling of the knees. The person may suddenly become weak and crumble.
·       Facial numbness
·       Neck Pain

A neck motion beyond a certain degree can be extremely dangerous. So if you want to be safe you should avoid prolonged neck arching and twisting.

Preventions to be taken at the salon:

·       Neck not to be arched backwards or twisted more than 15degrees
·       Prefer leaning forward; a position less likely to compress the arteries while shampooing.
·       Use neck pads and chair cushions to give support to your neck.
·       Try to shorten the distance between your neck and the shampoo bowl.
·       Don’t spent longer than 3mins at the shampoo bowl


It is an extremely lethal syndrome, but if you are cautious and have the knowledge to protect your neck and artery it can be easily prevented. Take the necessary precautions and enjoy pampering yourself at a beauty salon.
